I'm sure some of you have already been out there having fun. Our Cavalry unit has been invited to attend Perryville and I am more than happy to plan on attending. I know there are some differing feelings on Perryville, but it is the premier event for Kentucky and we need to support it. I am willing to be the go between for anyone who does not want to deal first hand with the problems. All I ask is you read the requirements(which are lengthy), but kind of what we try to portray anyway. It is far enough out in the year to organize the Kentucky Volunteers and make a showing as a battalion. Let me know what you think. Please use this site as the forum so we may all know what the others are thinking and planning. Or send me a note at dwaldeck2@msn.com. Thanks Dave OK people, here we are beginning the season WET!!! I would like to propose we formalize the mission statement for membership review and address some addition "purpose" statements. These are concepts that keep surfacing in one way or another. 1. We seek to build Civil War events in Kentucky. 2. We seek to unit Kentucky Federal, Confederate, and civilian organizations. 3. We support Camp Nelson. 4. We strive for historical accuracy, individual enjoyment (fun), and above all safety. 5. We encourage family participation. Please feel free to add, subtract, modify any or all of tehse staements. I just wanted to get them out for discussion as they have surfaced in various conversations.
