Organizing continues!

Saturday’s meeting at Camp Nelson was all about fleshing out the Constitution and discussing just how we are going to approach the By-Laws. The process of incorporation continues as well and we’ll be updating here as we move along on that front.
Please check the “About Us” section for what we are wanting to do and always remember that the only official status of the Kentucky Volunteers will be found on this site. No one likes being caught up in rumors and we are no different. When in doubt about us, please check here. If your questions aren’t answered, drop us a note and we’ll be in touch with an answer.
Once we get our own schedules worked out for the next meeting we’ll post that meeting date here.
Suggest something Kentuckyish as picture rather than a slave chain. Possibly the state flag or something. I realize that a lot of the look will change as we really get going and are able to add reenactment pics. Also could leave room for newsletters.
We are off and running, kudos to David and Mona for jump starting teh process and for all those who are already showing a high level of involvement.

I’m excited about all the positive response that is going on. Thanks for allowing me to be a part.
I thought we made some promising progress at the first meeting. Organization was well done and glad to see the good turnout.
I hope this gets the support for our local events across Ky.
There is alot of exciting email traffic regarding the mission statement and purpose of the organization. I would like to propose we formalize the mission statement for membership review and address some addition “purpose” statements. These are concepts that keep surfacing in one way or another.
1. We seek to build Civil War events in Kentucky.
2. We seek to unit Kentucky Federal, Confederate, and civilian organizations.
3. We support Camp Nelson.
4. We strive for historical accuracy, individual enjoyment (fun), and above all safety.
5. We encourage family participation.
Please feel free to add, subtract, modify any or all of tehse staements. I just wanted to get them out for discussion as they have surfaced in various conversations.
